The PIT tag is a small electronic tag that be automatically detected and decoded. The PIT tag was developed as a research and management tool for monitoring the movement of juvenile and adult salmonids in the Columbia River Basin. Fish injected with this tag can be automatically recognized by devices strategically located at hydroelectric dams.
Each year, PIT tag data become available near the end of March.
Each day PIT tag data is accumulated until 11:59pm, then summarized for
the entire day. PIT tag data accumulations for partial days are not
posted to the FPC web site, to avoid creating graphs with misleading data.
